Three Buildings . . . One Church!
Forest Larger Parish (the First Presbyterian Churches of Lakewood, Wabeno, and Laona) has merged their three separate churches to become Forest Larger Parish Presbyterian Church. We are now ONE CHURCH operating out of three locations! We share our pastors, our office space, and our governing body (The Session), but the relationship goes beyond that. We think of our fellow members in our other church buildings as our "brothers and sisters in Christ"; our extended family.
You are welcome to attend any of the three services on a given Sunday (the services are almost identical) so if you can't make an 8 o'clock at Lakewood, try 10 o'clock at Wabeno or 5 PM in Laona.
When you make a donation to Forest Larger Parish Presbyterian Church, that money will be spent to support the functions of the church (including the major committees.) The church Buildings and Grounds Committee deals with the expenses and decisions of each individual church building. The elders make decisions that affect all of those buildings (such as approving use of the building for outside events, etc.)
As a member, the most dramatic way you will notice the "Parish" portion of our name is when we get together for joint activities (see below.) When we have a "joint service" scheduled, services at the other two buildings will be cancelled for that day. Joint Sunday services are Pentecost in Lakewood, Summer outdoor service in Laona (August), and a Pastor Appreciation Service in Wabeno (October). Special Joint Services include Wednesday Evening Lenten Services and a Thanksgiving Eve Service in Wabeno.
